Did the weather dampen the enjoyment of yet another Boxford Fireworks Event? Judging from the comments received after the event, no it didn't. This year, those that built the lanterns excelled themselves, producing masterpieces themed on the 50th anniversary of the heroic first landing of men on the moon. We were treated to a parade through the village led by the Glenmoriston Pipe Band, who regaled us further on the Playing Field with a wonderful marching display, whilst playing drum and bagpipe tunes familiar to many of us. Fireflow delighted us with their stunning Firedancers, captivating us with their unusual extraordinary entertainment. They really do seem to enjoy their Firedancing performance and creativity, helping to make this year's event one to remember. Should we hire them again? You tell us! Anne Holdgate

I would like to say a few words about Anne. She was one of the kindest, hard working and bravest people I have known. She would help anyone in need and could always rustle up others to help as well. She was a member of various committees and was always the first to volunteer and the last to leave. Despite the fact that for many months she knew that she had terminal cancer, she wanted few people to know, so that she could carry on as normal and not be treated any differently. However, this never stopped her helping out at all the events, even if she was in the middle of treatment. She always put on a brave face and somehow did manage to carry on as normal throughout it all. For many years Anne served the Community Council as our catering co-ordinator and chief, ensuring every event was well run in her efficient way; much work was done...

Fireworks and Lanterns 2017

Once again the weather held for a magnificent Firework display attended by over a thousand people at the Playing Field. The Fireworks were stunning and provided by Dynamic Fireworks. The quality and variety of the lanterns was even more impressive this year and thanks go to Mark Miller and Karen Baker for organising the lantern making throughout the week. As usual, the number of volunteers who helped set up, take down and run the event is too many to name individually, but sincere thanks go to all of you who helped – the event would not happen without you. This year's event was dedicated to Anne Holdgate who sadly passed away recently. She will be sorely missed by many people and the village will always be grateful for her commitment to the community. Fun & Games January 2018

FUN & GAMES NIGHT BOXFORD COMMUNITY COUNCIL. We will once again be holding our Annual Fun & Games Night in Boxford Village Hall on Saturday 27 January 2018. Teams of 8 contestants will battle through the various indoor games and quizzes to claim the prestigious title. A fun night is promised for all with a licensed bar, raffle and refreshments. The evening will commence at 7.30 with registration and the first round of games at 7.50 promptly. Ticket prices are £60 per team.
