History

Boxford Community Council was formed in 1966, initially to raise funds to purchase the Playing Fields. It was registered as a charity (304862) with the Charitable Objects:

TO PROVIDE ADEQUATE RECREATIONAL FACILITIES, PLAYING FIELDS, PLAYGROUNDS AND COMMUNITY CENTRES WITHIN THE BENEFICIAL AREA IN THE INTERESTS OF SOCIAL WELFARE. TO ENCOURAGE AND DEVELOP ALL RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES IN THE INTERESTS OF SOCIAL WELFARE. TO RAISE BY SUBSCRIPTION OR OTHERWISE FUNDS FOR FURTHERANCE OF THE OBJECTS OF THE COUNCIL.

Over the years, whole village events have included Street Parties, annual Fireworks and Lantern making, an annual Senior Citizens’ Mystery Outing, Fun & Games Night, a Halloween ‘Specdracula’, an Act of Remembrance (2018) and many others.
